P. tuberosa is a popular herb mentioned as ‘Rasayana’ drugs in ayurveda. Indian kudzu is a perennial herb commonly referred as ‘vidarikanda’, distributed throughout south East Asia. The plant's tuber is widely used in ethanomedicine as well as in traditional systems of medicine, particularly in ayurveda. It has been used in various ayurvedic formulations. It is used in various complicated conditions of Pitta and Vata. In traditional medicine system, the tuber is also used against sexual weakness, pain, inflammations and skin problems.
